Equity and Justice Group Bangladesh (EquityBD) has been closely monitoring the discourse of the Paris Climate Conference. It organized various policy advocacy events before the conference and it also organized press conference and seminar during the CoP 21 at the conference venue premises to raise mainly the demands of the LDCs and MVCs. Efforts are still going on to protest against the Paris agreement.
Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Chief Moderator of EquityBD has so far made some immediate assessments on the draft Paris Climate Agreement. Some international newspapers and medias have published his comments and reviews.
The Daily Mirror of Sri Lanka (Published on 15th December) quoted Rezaul Karim Chowdhury as: “If the text is adopted as it is, the ‘Most Vulnerable Countries’ have lost their right to claim liabilities and compensation for ‘Loss and Damage’. Countries like Bangladesh will not be able to seek assistance from richer nations and we will be left alone to face up to these disasters.
